A TEENAGER from Notts will be the main guest at a health awareness event to inform diabetics about the best ways to take insulin.

George Dove, 14, of Mansfield will be talking about his experiences of using what is known as an insulin pump at the event at the Hilton Hotel in Milton Street on Saturday.

The Brunts School pupil had to campaign for four years to get his pump after he was diagnosed with Type One diabetes when he was just eight years old.

Ooh, I went to this event today! Didn't meet George though, but I did meet Lesley from INPUT, who was lovely. Felt a bit vague as I'm not really eligible for a pump (although lesley pointed out that with night-time hypos maybe I am) but I went along to be nosy and get clued up on what is available.
