Hi all,

quick update on the pains in my legs, called into docs to find out if blood test results were back and was told they have come back 'normal' so its not the Statins! Don't know what to think now, so will have to make another appointment to try to sort it out.

I'm sorry that the tests haven't revealed what the problem might be Shirl, although I must admit I didn't know they could prove that statins were responsible from a blood test - do you know what the test was called? Hope your doctor has some other ideas when you see him/her so you can get it sorted out.

Hi Northerner,

can't honestly remember what test was called but 'creatin' something or other comes to mind but to be honest not sure about that 😱 brain not functioning either!!

According to Wikipedia a serum creatinine test is used to measure renal function, could that be it?

They are looking for rhabdomyolysis, which means muscle damage caused by the statins. The muscles will leak enzymes, proteins, into the blood stream and these can be detected in the blood.
If you read the link in my previous post it explains what happens.

If you are still getting the pains Shirl then I would ask him to let you stop the statins for a couple of weeks and see if the pain goes.
