Hi all, I just dont know if I should dial 999 or not.

I have had the paramedics out this week as I had very high bloods, now they are 26 and ive been well behaved, cut right back on caffeine, sugar etc. but i feel pretty poorly, head feels off balance, stomach pain, generally feeling crap.. but so much so im not sure if im coming or going, let alone trying to work. what should i do ? im scared as have had no help from the specialists, im sitting with the heater on full, clothed, in an oodie with hot water bottle and still am feeling so cold.

no ketons 'yet'

I hope you’re feeling better soon. Do you have a temperature? Could it be some sort of virus?

Sorry to hear you are feeling rough.
When did you last inject your insulin and how much and which insulins?
Are you increasing your insulin to bring your levels down? ie adding correction doses of your meal time/fast acting insulin.

You need to learn how to adjust your insulin doses to keep your BG levels balanced to prevent things getting too out of hand as they sound like they are now. Good that there are no ketones, but sounds like you need medical help.

Diabetes is not just about sugar but all carbohydrates including bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, breakfast cereals etc. You need to adjust your meal time doses to cover these things. Caffeine doesn't contain carbs, so it shouldn't be a problem unless you drink a lot of it.

Hope you get some support soon but I would encourage you to visit the forum more frequently when you are not at crisis point, to learn how to manage your diabetes better. I learned most of what I know from the good people here. Knowledge is power and will help you to keep on top of your diabetes, so it is worth investing some time and effort into learning as much as you can so that you can keep it in check.

Hi all, my wife sorted me out through drinking loads of water which meant I kept dashing to the toilet until 5.30am today lol. 111 called back at 6.30am but by then i was fast asleep, nothing else heard until our doorbell went at 10.25pm tonight when i got to finally meet my dr for the first time ever. Apparently his wife is diabetic (small world) he's going to call me tomorrow at 11am... the end.... lol

I knew I shouldn’t had wrote… the end… I’m actually better than ever! Before eating a meal my bloods would be up to 26. Yesterday whilst waiting for the de to never call, I went online and changed Drs.

I felt an instant sigh of relief.

Last night before a meal my bloods were 16 much better than they have been I’m actually feeling the best I have in years.
