The future for Tony the Tiger was not grrr-eat last night after a report revealed that Frosties’ popularity is plummeting.
Sales of the high-sugar Kellogg’s cereal have fallen by 18.3%, after Tony, who turned 60 last year, was hit by a TV advert ban.
Trade magazine The Grocer says Ofcom’s 2007 restrictions on advertising high-fat, salt and sugar food and drink on kids’ TV was a big blow for Tony and a host of cereals.
The Grocer report says: “Tony the Tiger has not been feeling too grrr-eat of late.
He faces an uncertain future as Kellogg’s weighs up options – including cutting sugar content.”

60 eh? I wonder if that accounts for him starting out as a fully-grown tiger, or if they actually know his date of birth? 😉
