So went to the doctors and my hba1c was 71. Not sure what this is, she said about 8.7.
Nurse was really nice, explained to her about the hospital telling me anything under 10 was fine. I also asked her about MDI, she gave me some leaflets and i have read over them, just phoned the surgery and left a message for her, as i do want to go ahead with this.
Not so good, but am feeling ok as she didnt shout at me 🙂

Sorry you are feeling a bit low. I'm glad though, that the nurse was nice, don't beat yourself up Karen, I'm sure things will get better for you in time. Best wishes to you Sheena

Thank you hun, yes i do feel much better that i have spoken with her and she understands how angry i am about the hospital. x

Let's hope this is the first step towards some real progress for you Karen 🙂

The future is looking bright.............

Your HbA1c is not that bad, before I went on the DAFNE course, mine was 11.8%, 12% was the cut off, so nearly didn't make it in.......

Well done Karen, thats the first visit you were worried about out of the way, ok the Hba1c is not brilliant under normal circumstances, bit its expected with someone very new to diabetes, as you start to learn more about your treatment and whats best for you, you will find that figure will start dropping. We all have ups and downs Karen, main thing is to pick yourself up and start again. Get down into South Wales for a trip to the Mumbles where the air is better and the ice creams larger :D

Take care
John..

John i love the mumbles, i will be there the weekend with my dog, taking her for a walk. Thanks again everyone for all your support x

hey there, i would agree that is not a bad hba1c for someone newly diagnosed, certainly dont beat yourself up over it

I am glad that the nurse was supportive and had information on basal bolus for you to read. It sounds like she will support you in your decisions which is a good thing.

Good result, now you have a target to aim for. :D

Not too bad Karen!... my HbA1c was 9.0 about 3 years ago......just need to set small targets for yourself, with the right knowledge, help and commitment you will get it down I'm sure! 🙂

Similar to me in many ways when I was first diagnosed I was put on a mixed insulin and my first Hba1c was 8.4, then changed to a basal /bolus regime and my next Hba1c was 6.3.
