Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello, not been on the forum for years! I guess I tried to pretend it didn’t exist. Stupid I know. So now I find myself an overweight type 2 and feeling a very old 73 year old!

Hi welcome back to the forums. Plenty of help if you want it as you know 🙂 Don't forget there is plent of information on the rest of the site as well.

All the best

Welcome back @ivygirl 🙂 Apart from the weight, how is your diabetes? Are you on any medication? How’s your blood sugar?

Oh Lor' - I think I remember your user name - well I did remember it as soon as I saw it and clicked on your post and hence it's a relief for me to have you confirm it IS really you ! 🙂

Hey ho, life goes on and so does diabetes, so welcome back and hope you get on well !

Welcome back to the forum there is a lot of advice and info on here, like you I’ve recently come back on here, good luck with the weight loss

Welcome back @ivygirl.

Good luck with getting back into the swing of things with diabetes. You're not alone with how you feel, so there's plenty of support here. 🙂

Welcome back @ivygirl

Good to see you again!

Well done for deciding to tackle your diabetes a little more head-on, rather than continuing to push it into the background.

Perhaps it might be helpful as part of your reset to keep a food diary for a week or two. Be brutally honest! Note down everything you eat and drink. It can be especially helpful to estimate the amount of carbohydrate in the meals and snacks to give you an idea of which foods are the main sources of carbs in your menu.

There are obvious things like cakes, biscuits, sweets and sugary drinks that you will want to cut out straight away, you might be surprised how much *all* carbohydrate affects your BG levels, including rice, pasta, potatoes, bread, pastry, grains, cereals and many fruits - so identifying where the major sources of total carbs (not just ‘of which sugars’) are in your menu can be really useful.

Ask away with any questions 🙂
