Hi there, I've just joined too, having been reading posts on here for a while I thought I'd jump in and take part. I got Type 1 two years ago, age 26, and it was totally out of the blue. I was doing ok in terms of control, but since Christmas readings have either been too high or too low, and I can't get it right! HBA1C is up to 7.7%, so not terrible, but I'd like to get it below 7%, so I've gone back to keeping a food diary etc, but it doesn't really seem to be improving things. It's nice to read on here that other people are having ups and downs too!

Hi pigeon, welcome to the site! It seems a lot of people experience changes at this time of year - I've gone the opposite way and have to keep reducing my insulin. Hopefully, the work with the food diary wll start to pay off. I found that, because I was getting lots of lows I was overcompensating with more food and getting highs too - have there been any significant changes in diet or lifestyle for you?

Hi everyone, thanks for the welcomes!

No big lifestyle changes, Northerner, I just find that no two days are the same, so it's hard to work out patterns. I do lots of different activities, some of which increase BG, others decrease it, and some days at work I run round like mad, and others I sit at my desk all day.... I always find that after a hypo or a high reading I can work out why it happened, but I can never pre-empt it! I went on a DAFNE-type course 18 months ago, and the DSNs run a half-day follow up course, so I'm going to go on that to refresh the knowledge, which should be helpful, hopefully.

good luck with that pigeon.
very much agree no 2 days are the same and i can never tell when there coming on but after i can always remember like yourself how it happened x
