Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi everyone.

Gosh it's been a while since I was last here. I think my username was something like SilentAssassin or something like that from years and years ago. Anywho, I'm back! For those who don't know/remember me - my name's Sam and I was diagnosed as type 1 on 14th February 1996. Can't believe it's almost been 21 years. During my time at Uni I didn't look after myself at all - I wanted to be just like everyone else so I didn't take my insulin or anything. It ended up with me being diagnosed with a whole bunch of complications a few years back including peripheral nueropathy and eye problems.

BUT, things are good now. I'm sure many of you will remember how much I disliked my job the last time I was here. I ended up being dismissed from the job for having too much sick time relating to my diabetes. It was a kick in the teeth to be honest, but looking back at things it was actually a very good thing indeed. I ended up jumping between jobs for a while until I got my current job with a rather large letting agent as a branch accountant. It's hard work but I'm much happier there - my diabetes is much more stable now I'm in a less stressful job and happier with everything. I've even had time to write, with my first book being published back in October. There's another one in the works which I'm currently in the process of editing.

Anywho, it's lovely to be back. I hope you're all well, old friends and new faces.

Hi Sam, good to see you back again, and glad to hear that you've managed to find some good balance in your life 🙂 Great to see you are still writing, and congratulations on your first publication! 🙂

I vaguely remember :D If I recall we both started out on the awful accu chek combo pump? I ended up moving to the Southampton clinic last year and getting an Animas and I looooove it.

Hi Sam. Welcome back! 🙂
Glad to hear things are going well for you after a difficult time.

yes! Funny thing is i got used to the combo.. then i got upgraded to the insight in the summer, It's pretty good and has its up and downs like the old one. It does the job it's supposed to though. Would love to try the animas though for the dexcom compatibility. Nice to see you back :D

Hi Sam, nice to see you posting again, I remember you from way back.😳🙂 Glad to hear that you are now doing well, look forward to hearing from you more.

John.

Hi from a T2 newbie. Two years in last month.

Hi Sam, I'm far too young to remember your first appearance. Welcome, back. Love the blog, by the way. Maybe your alternate history book should be about a mad billionaire psycho getting elected as a US President. Oh, hang on a minute....
