Been diabetic for almost 30 years but controlled with diet and tablets. Started to struggle with hba1c a few years ago and recently switched to insulin injections. Feel so much better straight away 🙂 now starting to use cgm to monitor but tech seems flakey so using duk as a great reference site,

Hope to see you all about the forums

Welcome @Trickydicky666
I am glad to read you are feeling better with insulin.

You are not the first to express concerns about CGMs. However, in many cases, the flakiness is due to limitations of science and, once these are understood, CGMs tend to feel less flaky.
This thread should help

Hi and welcome from me too.

Good to hear you are feeling better now you have insulin. Which ones have they given you and are you carb counting and adjusting doses?

Which CGM are you using? Hopefully a read through the limitations that @helli complied in the thread linked will help you resolve some of your concerns but there are people for whom one make of CGM works better than another. For me Libre works really, really reliably apart from the times when the limitations apply like after treating a hypo. I do however use a reader with my Libre rather than the phone app and whilst it means I need to scan to get readings, it negates a lot of the connection issues some people have with different phones and their bluetooth connection, plus no issues when a new operating system is released. I tried the phone app for a while and it worked OK but for reliability I love my reader.
Other members of the forum have found Libre is just not compatible with their "body chemistry" and Dexcom works great for them, so if you understand the limitations, have rules out any glitches with your phone, then it is worth trying a different system. If you are getting your CGM on prescription then it should be possible for your GP or nurse to make a straight swap from Libre 2(plus) to Dexcom One+ as they are priced pretty much the same.

Anyway, good luck resolving your CGM issues and I hope you find the forum useful for a whole range of other issues that diabetes throws up from time to time.

Hi @Trickydicky666 and warm welcome from me too. 🙂 Really glad you've decided to join the forum and it's a great place for help and support from our friendly members. That's good news that the insulin is making you feel so much better. I use Freestyle Libre 2 monitor which I find so useful, it also means that my poor fingers have a rest from being pricked all the time😉

well thanks for the warm welcome. i'm using humulin M3 and still got training wheels on around times and volumes. presently using 2x injections per day 16units each morning and evening. i'm using Libre2+ cgm and so far im 68% in the green. 8% in the red low, and 5% in the high and the rest in the orange. I'm on my second CGM as the first one did not work at all, the second is losing connection to my phone which i think is OS related Bluetooth issue. I have that hooked up to glucoroo to have constant monitoring on my apple watch and home screen on my iphone. I have spoken to abbotts a few times (i'm a bit of a techy) about the issues and they think its a combination of the Libre app and the apple OS BUT they also think the sensor is problematic as its not recording interstacial levels to update when connected. The readings when its working are pretty accurate with less than 0.3mmols difference (allowing for 15m time difference) to my blood tests but its close enough and good enough to persiste with. Doubtless i will have a bazillion questions as we go along but for now all is paleatable 🙂

Welcome to the forum @Trickydicky666

Great to hear you have been feeling so much better on insulin, and have access to CGM - which are great when you get used to their quirks 🙂

Keep firing away with those questions :D
