I've been pretty much ok since my last posts. Had a couple of set backs but nothing I couldn't cope with.
But...
The week before Christmas I had what I assumed was one of my UTI attacks. Something I have had to deal with on and off for 46 years now.
The doctor who responded to my request for antibiotics; something I rarely request as I can normally manage on own, wouldn't give the normal anti bis and ended up with the 3 day course that has never really worked with me.
Since then the problem has gotten worse and worse. The weekend before last, I developed frothy urine, pain in the base of belly/top of groin when I need to wee and am now in total agony with the most intense itching and burn blisters around urethra and in vulva...this is a new and it's excruciating.

I have blood and urine tests booked for Friday but I need to use something topical. I was using sudacrem on advice from one doctor...not my normal one...but it's made things worse.
The surgery nurse said to use hydrocortisone cream but the diabetic nurse said no as it can raise blood sugar

Does anyone please know of any topical cream or ointment I can use...I'm beating my head against a brick wall. I have reduced my potassium, phosphate, carbonate intake which means I can't eat my normal diet, I can't exercise as I can barely close my legs, I can't go swimming etc and my blood sugar is creeping up.
The hot sweats and breathing exercises after going to loo are draining me and an hour later it all starts again.

I have also broken out in itchy, peeling dry patches on my face, especially eye lids and in my ears.

Help
Please if you can.

It does sound very unpleasant, UTIs are difficult to treat as they don't always respond to the first antibiotic that is tried as they need to act in the correct place. A side effect of the antibiotic can be a thrush infection which is a yeast not bacteria and therefore need something different. Keeping your blood glucose from going too high will help as they both love a sugary environment.
You really need to see your GP again and emphasise how much pain you are in. In the meantime you may find your pharmacist may be able to help, most will have a private area where you can discuss your issues.
I have had occasions when they say 'you should really see the doctor' and that helps in getting a doctors appointment.
Otherwise try the 111 online.

Hi Pollyanna, welcome back to the forum.

I'm really sorry to hear about all that you're going through. It sounds incredibly painful and frustrating to deal with.

We can't give advice on medical issues such as yours but I echo the importance for insisting that your GP take another look or make a referral to a gynecologist as it's having a huge impact on your everyday life.

You can ty walk-in centers and the likes but this does sound like a proper investigation is needed so do keep insisting until you get somewhere with it.

Hi
Thanks for reply.
Have suffered from UTIs for 46 years on and off ...I was living in the Scottish Isles ...went into labour ...problems ... helicopter couldn't fly me to Aberdeen due to weather.
Long story short ... emergency CS ..they caught the bladder.
Had to learn to manage and I have done and done well but this cystitis is something else.
Am in a vicious circle re keeping blood sugar down versus kidney health.
I will see doc once blood tests result in after Friday but in the meantime am at the lowest I have been due to pain.
I did call 111 Saturday... Was to told to take cystapurin
Diabetic nurse at surgery said drink lots of water ...I drink gallons of water

I need something topical other than pouring iced water between my legs.

Ok thank you.
I'll keep searching for something that doesn't impact my diabetes, protein in urine or potassium levels that I can use topically until I get test results.

I did ask re a gynecologist but as I had a full hysterectomy 15 years ago they said no point.

Really appreciate your reply

I too wonder if you may have a thrush infection on top of the cystitis. Have you tried Canesten cream for thrush which can be bought off the shelf in supermarkets or pharmacies. You can get just the cream or a combination pack of cream and pessary. Obviously it won't help the cystitis but may alleviate the aggravated tissue if it is also thrush. I don't think getting one precludes the other. Do you test your BG levels at home and if so, what sort of levels are you getting? If levels are high then that would make thrush more likely

Sending virtual (((HUGS))) as it sounds extremely painful as well as debilitating. Hope you find something that works very soon.

Thank you for your reply.
I don't have thrush but even if I did I wouldn't be able to use Canestan as I have blisters due to the urine burns.
Grateful for your reply x

Feeling much better ...they might let home tomorrow...
Am missing my assistant dog
I have slept 5 hours ...haven't slept more than 2 hours at a time for weeks.
I should have called 111 sooner..
It's something to do with the linaglipin..I must admit I was confused when they added that to my tablets 18 months ago.
Has anyone else on it had problems?

Glad you are feeling better @Pollyanna and that they think they have found the cause - hope you are able to return home to your pooch soon.
