It may depend on what medication you are taking but it is an approach that some people have found successful but others find it has made no difference. But it also may depend on what dietary approach you have adopted for the rest of the time. No good having the same amount of carbs but just in a shorter time period.
It is mentioned in a number of threads.

Hi @Northerncharm and welcome to the forum. Can you tell us a little more about your diabetes, such as your hba1c and what, if any, medications you are on? It might help to give you more information about the type of diet is best for you.

As all diabetics are different, there are a number of approaches to take. Many of us T2s follow a low carb, high fat diet. Some will be intermittent fasters, some start on the Newcastle Diet (very low cal shakes drink)

A lot will depend on what type of meds you are on, ie ones which could cause a hypo if you go too low carb.

Hi, thank you so much for your reply. I take slow release Metformin 500mg x 2 a day. I take Trulicity 3.5mg injection once a week. My diet is pretty good and my hba1c is 6.5
My husband does intermittent fasting, he is not diabetic, I thought it would be easy to do this with him.

Thank you so much for your reply, I will take a look at the other threads.

Your HbA1C means you are still just in the diabetic zone but presumably the medications and diet are helping to get you where you are.
Certainly metformin wouldn't preclude you from intermittent fasting but you should check on the Trulicity information.
Many do naturally fast for 12 hours overnight so extending that may work for you. The liver sometimes tries to be helpful in releasing glucose so if testing with a home monitor it can be higher after fasting.

Welcome to the forum @Northerncharm

There was a thread about a research study that found Intermittent Fasting a helpful strategy in T2 Diabetes

But as others have mentioned, it would be wise to discuss your plans with your GP to get their advice. 🙂

I really appreciate your reply and your time, I will look further into the Trulicity.
Many thanks.

Many thanks for your reply, I will look into this a little bit deeper before doing anything.
