Northern Lights over Ireland tonight

Series of pictures taken tonight of the Northern Lights over Galway, Ireland

The first time in my life seeing it, and the night I learned a secret....


The secret is it looks like a very faint pink/blue/green streak in the sky this far south - not at all impressive to the naked eye, just unusul. A camera on a tripod with a long exposure, or the camera on a clever smartphone, makes it look much more impressive than it really is.

cool, I went out and looked about 10 mins ago, but didn't spot anything from here (south wales). Apparently 10pm to midnight is a good time AuroraWatch UK status

Didn't see anything from here in Berkshire. Not sure whether that was due to light pollution, as we're in a built-up area, or because we're simply too far south.

We saw them here in Oxfordshire, we had red and green patches, this was taken by my daughter, just on her normal phone.
