just want to say HI , just been diagnosed with type 2 ,can I use plain flour to make home made biscuits ?

Hi Leedsx555, welcome to the forum 🙂 In answer to your question it's best to limit your consumption of white flour products. All types of carbohydrates will impact on your blood sugar levels, so bread, pasta, rice etc. all need careful consideration.

I would recommend reading Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter, and getting a copy of Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker - these will give you a good grounding in what to expect and how to tackle things. If you have any questions, please ask away! Have you been given any medication for your diabetes? How did you come to be diagnosed?

Welcome to the forum, leedsx555.

It's not just about what you eat, but how much - obvious really, but, for example two biscuits contain twice as much flour / carbohydrate as one. So, some people prefer to have higher carbohydrate content items (perhaps more enjoyable taste / texture etc) fewer times, instead of lower carbohydrate items more often.

Hi Noobie, welcome. If you like your biscuits, it might be worth doing an internet search to see if there are any recipes based on ground almonds instead of flour, and sweetener instead of sugar to keep those pesky carbs to a minimum. Good luck!

You might try an alternative to flour, such as ground almonds maybe?
