You can’t be eating no carbs that’s impossible, even lettuce has carbs.

Have you reduced portion sizes too? Counted calories to check you’re not having too many?

It would be useful if you kept a food diary of everything you eat and drink with an estimate of the amount of carbs not just sugar you are having as it is easy to underestimate what you are having unless you weight things.
It can take a while for your body to adjust to new dietary regimes.
You can still have some carbs even though you are following a low carb diet it is not NO carbs.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. And about the frustrating time you’ve been having with adjusting your menu.

Do you have a home BG meter? Have you seen improvements in glucose levels with the changes you’ve made to your meals?

Hi..thank you all for your advice, I am counting calories, trying to keep to around 800 per day, or under 1,000.
I have eliminated bread etc, plus sugar, trying to keep to salad, veg, cottage cheese etc, hence the frustration.

Hi everydayupsanddowns, I am a little concerned at the care and information from my Dr.I had a blood test in October, only to be told that I didn't have T2 diabetes. I was called in to the surgery 3 weeks ago for a test for my thyroid, and they decided to check my diabetes too. I received a phone call to say I had T2 diabetes...probably since October, but no one followed it up ! I was prescribed Metformin, and cholesterol medication. No further information, and that was that.
I don't know if I have to test, all the information I have is on Google. So hence the confusion about food etc, I have completely changed my diet, which is a good thing, the medication is settling a bit now, not pleasant in the beginning.

Sorry to hear about the way your. diagnosis was handled, and the lack of information you’ve been given. It’s not all that uncommon to have 2 HbA1c checks for a diagnosis. Though these can sometimes be close together, if you want the results to be independent of each other then spacing 3-4 months apart allows for a fuller ‘turnover’ of red blood cells.

Great to hear your body is adjusting well to the meds.
