the Chinese province where it all started. Five months from first appearance to dead-stop. Kudos, Hubei!

Also, just *one* new domestic transmission amongst the ~1.4B people in China outside Hubei. Even more, remarkable, really: they're not on anything like total lock-down.

Meanwhile, here in Oz medical officials are patting themselves on the back because we're not as bad as northern Europe.

Let's hope it's genuine 🙂 Here in the UK they were talking about potentially 500k deaths without interventions, now 20,000 with all the measures taken so far - yet China, where they let it brew for ages before taking any action have only recorded about 3,000 deaths and have brought it under control (apparently). Why are we projecting 20k, possibly more, deaths when we have had a considerable head start? I know not all those Chinese cases have recovered yet, but presumably they are no longer being overwhelmed and able to concentrate resources well.

I would take anything they say with a pinch of salt. They were shutting stuff down as soon as it appeared on the 'net. I only trust the Beeb for news and they more than likely edit what they want us peasants to know. For the best I suppose, we're bad enough with what we do know, stupid panics and being daft, if we were told all I'm sure we'd all be running round like headless chickens!

Agreed, but what they're claiming is consistent with what we'd expect, isn't it? If you stop (with force, if necessary) most movement of people for a few weeks and do lots of testing, you're going to cut infections to the extent that you'll have a handle on the remaining ones.

Sorry I gave lost faith in the beeb, I now watch a few differnt news channels.

Yes, I've found myself watching Sky News more often than the Beeb these days, they seem to offer deeper and more up to date perspectives.

I have watching a bit CTGN and CNN(Trump hates), aswell as Sky , and Beeb.
I like some of the CNN virus coverage specials, as they go to correspondents around the world , how things are been dealt.

I watched Channel 4 last night for a change. I was even more freaked out, very explicit and showed Italy and stuff. Agh. I shall continue watching as I felt it was more nitty gritty.
