The crisis at the heart of the NHS will never be solved if politicians continue their game-playing tactics in the run-up to the general election, the chairman of the British Medical Association's board has warned.
Dr Mark Porter said the BMA's new campaign, which calls for an open and honest public debate about the institution, was not aimed at any particular party.
Although such "game-playing" has been going on for decades, now more than ever it is necessary for politicians to come up with more long-term, effective solutions that will make a difference, he said.
