Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi, I joined exactly a week ago, same day as I had a Type 2 diagnosis, with an HbA1c reading of 108 (I even got that wrong last week!). When I tested before dinner that evening, my blood glucose reading was 14.8. I was scared, confused, and didn't know which way to turn, so I posted on here.

I had some amazing, positive, reassuring comments from people here, and I'm not ashamed to admit I was crying as I read the responses.

Amongst other great advice and shared personal experiences, the Freshwell project was mentioned. I looked it up that evening, decided I had nothing to lose and started following the meal plans the next morning.

I had my first face to face appointment with my GP yesterday, 6 days after my diagnosis and being put on Metformin. He was very pleased with the progress I've made in less than a week, with blood glucose readings showing a steady downward trend, and reckons if I carry on like this and lose a couple of stone, I should be able to put my diabetes into remission!

My blood glucose reading this evening was 7.4 - half what it was a week ago.

Sorry for the long-winded post, but I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU! to everyone on here, and say to anyone who is currently scared like I was, if I can do it, you can too!!

Great to hear the progress you are making.

You'll find that if you hang out around here, you'll pick up a little tidbit of information every day to help you manage and control your BG.

I've found the advice I've received in my short time here better than any DSN I've seen to date.
