No longer prescribing test strips for type 2!

Fiona, you could always cut through all this messing about. Go back to your GP and tell him/her that you need to use test strips to check your blood sugar while you are on the medication that you are on, because there is a risk, though slight, of the medication causing diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), so you need to keep a fairly close eye on your control. He cannot then refuse.

Simple. Don't worry about the medication, the risk is tiny, but presumably he was the one who prescribed it.

So there is no need to write to anybody.
