I was initially diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic and given insulin as treatment and was advised by GP that I had to send my licence of to the DVLA and they reduced it to 3 years, 18 months later after seeing my Diabetic specialist, the tests that they had from me suggested that I am not a type 1 after all and more likely a type 2, he has not put me on tablets (Metformin) & I am no longer on Insulin at all now. How do I go about getting my licence put right now?

I would contact the DVLA and inform them of your change of medication and in particular the fact you’re no longer using insulin. I’m not sure whether they’d issue a new licence or just amend your licence at your next renewal date.

When I was diagnosed in 2013 I was put on insulin initially and had to apply for a three year licence. After three years I was sent a form to fill in, by this stage I was using only diet and exercise to control my glucose levels. The form didn't have a box for diet and exercise only, I had to draw in my own box and tick it. Since then I haven’t had to fill in the form again. There is an old post with my query about this here:
