No Carb diet for Type 1 ?!!

I agree that it's good for us to avoid jargon whenever possible - or at least explain what terms mean. I'm still trying to work out what "HS" means and why people get congratulated on having it :confused:.
HS stands for House Special and is a waking reading of 5.2. It is all just a bit of fun and nonsense really, with an element of pre CGM logic to it. Basically, many moons ago on the forum, someone proposed a waking reading of 5.2 as being the optimum waking reading. Not too high that it is going to cause inflated HbA1c results, but not too low to suggest you might have gone hypo overnight without realising it, as was a concern before we had CGM and were able to track our overnight levels and adjust our basal insulin to reduce the risk of this happening. I believe it also may have had something to do with the picture on the front of a BG meter box at the time displaying 5.2. Anyway, that is why a 5.2 on the "7-day waking average" thread is referred to as an HS or House Special and is cause for celebration!
