Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi I am new to the forum. I was diagnosed 13 years ago and have till now controlled my diabetes with diet and medication. My HBA1c is now 8 so I am rapidly moving towards insulin. I am a little frightened and so would love to hear from soneone who has recently gone onto insulin please.

Hi Sue, welcome to the forum.

I was controlled with diet and meds for 6 years, then my a1c went up to 8, then 10, then 12, that's when they put me on Insulin, that was 6 months ago. I wasn't overjoyed at the thought and like you was nervous, but it's actually been surprising 'easy' to get used to. I still have days where the routine of it all gets me a little mad, but it is having the right affect. HbA1C was down to 9.2 after 3 months and I think it will be under 7 when I have my next one done in about 6 weeks.

Has your a1c been rising for a while or could this last result be a blip?

Welcome to the forum Sue 🙂
