Plus, of course decent housing, reduction of overcrowding, slum clearance, safe sewage disposal, all of which reduced disease dramatically without a single doctor attending. TB, Typhoid, Cholera. All public health triumphs, and saved more lives than an MRI scanner will.
 
Well there's something for the Anti Royalists to consider then. Who were the movers and shakers who caused the sewage system to get sorted?
 
It was Parliament, when they had to move out from the stink of the open sewer that was the River Thames. A combination of Joseph Bazalgette’s vision and Brunel’s nous cleaned up London and separated Londoners’ bodily waste from the water supply.

The only Royal who got involved was the Prince of Wales, who cut the ribbon to open the system in 1865, after which he probably dashed off for a bit of rumpy pumpy with his current mistress.
