Can nightmares cause high morning readings?

I suffer from both and was wondering if there could be a link.

Quite possibly - adrenalin/stress can cause the liver to release extra glucose :(

Good Q Megan.

It's funny you dont think of things until someone mentions it to you on a forum and you link stuff.

Some time ago I had a nightmare which was bad enough for me to jump up and sit there bashing my oh on the arm telling him about it, next morning I tested as per and my bs was around 13 can't quite remember

As its only happened once I can't for definite say the 2 are related.🙄

Well funnily enough I had one in the week (perhaps there's summat going round) and I was sufficiently frightened to be far too scared to close my eyes. So I got up and read for 2 hours until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.

But I thought after, why didn't I test? I could have been hypo, and then had a liver dump which caused my morning high BG?

We'll never know.

And I can't remember the last time I could remember a dream, though I used to, rarely bad - just unfathomable where I'd be somewhere and there would be people from another part of my life there - eg work people's other halves, who I/we only knew fleetingly, at my best friend's house or whatever.

Anyway, it's Vewwy stwange.

Hmmm I'm suffering with regular nightmares and bad morning bs even though they were good the night before

Hi Megan,
just a hunch but suspect you are perhaps having a hypo, and your kind liver has dumped on you hence the high morning numbers.
Perhaps set your alarm for about 2 AM and do a blood test.
Hope you are soon sorted.

Children are prone to vivid dreams and nightmares if BG's moving around in the night, could a high BG have caused your nightmare rather than vice versa ? Hope you get it sorted 🙂

Hmm I didn't think of that. I don't feel hypo when I wake up though. Do you think I could be hypo during the nightmare and then out of the hypo from a liver dump by the time I wake up??

Hi Megan, I am wondering if that's the case. So simple solution is to check before any action taken. If you are low at testing simple solution is a small bedtime snack 🙂

Right. I shall try that starting tonight 🙂. Thanks x
