Hi all.

So my husband keeps waking up sweating, a lot. He feels OK but just absolutely soaked

Hi levels are around 6 at bedtime.

Any idea what this could be?

Thank you x

There can be all sorts of causes, some diabetes meds can cause or increase them so it’s worth him having a chat with his GP.

Hi WendyG, welcome to the forum.

Diabetes of itself isn’t a cause of night sweats, though as you know, hypoglycaemia is a cause. As that isn’t happening, he really ought to see his GP - there is a whole panoply of causes. By far the commonest cause is cause unknown. That is, it is mainly harmless. Nonetheless, it shouldn’t be ignored, so to settle any worries, go to the doc.

I get night sweats if I’m hypo, but it’s I’m still around 6 on waking . Might be worth checking bg when this happens

This could be a number if things including infection which may need early treatment. I would definitely recommend a call to his GP Monday morning. Please let us know how he gets on.

When I suffered from night sweats, I think it was directly linked to my NAFLD (Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease). I was overweight and my liver was having a rough time of it. Of course this also coincided with my Type 2 diagnosis (the two were linked!).

If your husband is overweight too, then this is one possibility which needs to be considered. Only way to tell is go and see the GP.

By the way, I no longer have a problem and my liver was given the all clear within a couple of years of the original diagnosis. I had lost the weight and it looks like the first thing to get sorted was my liver. 🙂
