SNP deputy leader Nicola Sturgeon believes only a Yes vote can save the NHS in Scotland from Coalition austerity cuts.

Speaking ahead of the Scottish Cabinet’s meeting in Wick, Sturgeon warned of the growing threat to the NHS in Scotland if there isn’t a Yes vote.

She said: “People should be under no illusion about the threat from Westminster’s privatisation agenda. Moves to privatise the health service in England began with Labour’s backing of foundation hospitals and have moved up a gear under the Tories.

More politcal scaremongering from Sturgeon & co.
If there is a Yes victory then there will be no NHS in Scotland, they will have to set up there own Health Service from scratch and if Scotland doesn't get EU membership then the Scots will have to pay the British Health service for operations south of the border (see the other article), and a lot of Scots get scans and operations in England because Scotland doesn't have the facilities.

All very true but the biggest lie she is telling is that it's Westminsters fault. She wants Scotland to be a part of the EU and adopt it's rules, regs and directives which are the very reason our health service is being opened up to private companies. It is really nothing to do with the Tories and if anything they have slowed the process with their changes, the truth is it is out of the Tories control and labours and the SNP's.

She and Salmond will tell any amount of lies for a yes vote.

relax, Vic, there soon won't be an NHS elsewhere in Britain if the jackals in Westminster have their way either!

Really? I find that rather hard to believe given all of the major European powers have state-funded systems with no clear ambition at all to open up to privatisation.

The French and the Germans won't even privatise their public transport, something we couldn't wait to do long ago. Where on earth is the evidence that the EU is trying to destroy the public healthcare systems that are the bedrock of all its member states....and why on earth would the EU have any interest in doing this?

The NHS in Scotland is in no danger from Independence, the infrastructure and systems are already in place for it continue and indeed grow. Paying for treatment south of the border will work exactly as it does now with exactly the same contracts for exchange of services as currently exist. Scots will better off, not worse for having a health system that is free of Westmonster's depredations.

As Alans link says. but I would add it has been going a long time. The royal mail sell off is when I first became aware of those competition rules and one thing us Brits do better than most is follow rules.

The full extent is hidden by our leaders for reasons I have yet to fathom.

From that wikki page.
This last point is a unique characteristic of the EU competition law regime. As the EU is made up of independent member states, both competition policy and the creation of the European single market could be rendered ineffective were member states free to support national companies as they saw fit.

So you didn't read the previous new post:
Patients from outside the EU are to be charged 150% of the cost of treatment in the NHS in a fresh crackdown on so-called "health tourism".

or do you believe all the unsubstantiated claims made by the 'Yes' party.
