My MM640G was due to be renewed at the end of November. I had an appointment in the hospital in September and the plan was that the DSNs would call me to invite me in to see the available options during the autumn.

Somehow that never happened and i hadn't heard anything when the pandemic threw a spanner in the works!

Over the weekend my pump died - white screen and alarm siren.

So I switched back to my backup MDI syringes and prepared to wait out the weeks until my (hopefully upgrade) phone appointment.

However thanks to a tip from a consultant I am connected with on Twitter, I also contacted Medtronic, and even though my pump was months out of warranty before coronavirus struck they have honoured the warranty and issued a replacement pump while keeping to the original (expired) warranty period in terms of the contract for a potential upgrade.

The replacement pump arrived 24 hours later.

To say I was pleased is an understatement!

Now that is impressive service. Does it tempt you to stay with them on your next choice.
I know you were looking at a t-slim.

I had been concerned about having a pump out of warranty but it does show that the companies sometimes use their common sense.

t the beginning of 'this lot' - Roche extended all of our warranties for 6 months and now I'm clueless when mine's up because the pump timer tells me it has 63 days to run, the diabetes clinic tell me it's not due till December and Roche will only discuss the matter with the CCG as it's their pump. Have a D clinic appt due in August if they don't decide to cancel it again but who knows?

One good thing is that Roche pumps don't actually normally 'stop' but just carry on regardless - last time I had to whinge about mine cos we wanted to swan off to France for a couple of months and because the guarantee had ended, doubtful if they'd replace it to an address in deepest Europe, despite being ?German/?Swiss - not British or French, anyway.

Yes Medtronic pumps just continue regardless too @trophywench

I still have my original Veo as a ‘spare’

The contract and renewal dates have remained unchanged for me, so I don’t have to delay shopping around for my next one, but I was very pleased to be given a warranty-replacement in the meantime!
