A question mark is hanging over the future of scores of NHS jobs after bosses announced plans to close a Tyneside centre.

Sixty two staff working for NHS England were told on Monday their office, based in Gosforth, Newcastle, would shut in June.

The centre, at Partnership House, Regent Farm Road, provides administration work for the region’s GPs, dentists, pharmacies and opticians.

The decision to close the centre comes as NHS England attempts to make multimillion pound savings in “back-office administration”.

Staff told how they had been left hurt by the decision.
