A NURSE has spoken of his relief after clearing his name and overturning a year-long ban from working in the profession.
Mark Thorneycroft won his legal fight to quash the misconduct finding brought by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
The 47-year-old had been accused of insulting patients with learning disabilities while pioneering a new type of care at an NHS unit in Bucknall.
But after fighting the allegations for three years, a High Court judge has now allowed his appeal.
The NMC has also been ordered to pay Mr Thorneycroft's costs.
