Health watchdogs have admitted to making 200 factual errors in a damning inspection report on the first ever privately-run NHS hospital.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) was accused of behaving like “used car salesmen” as it conceded to making repeated mistakes in its criticisms of Hinchingbrooke Hospital, ahead of the collapse of the controversial contract.
Last month private firm Circle announced plans to withdraw from the running of the hospital – hours before CQC published a devastating inspection report, declaring it the first trust to be branded “inadequate” for caring.
The report disclosed a number of cases in which patients were alleged to have been mistreated.
