An "innovative" NHS virtual centre has received an outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Birmingham patients are able to book video consultations with a GP, nurse or pharmacist, seven days a week.

Virtual services include an app for patients to access appointments and medical records as well as being able to order prescriptions over the phone.

The CQC said "the service allowed patients to access care and treatment in a more responsive way."

I’ve said this before, but you can’t make a diagnosis without an examination - cough, stomach pain, back pain, ear pain...the list is endless. Unless this service is only dealing with complete trivia, it has to be best guessing at best.

I’m not surprised the CQC love it, but they won’t when the first negligence suit arrives at the service for a misdiagnosis.

It looks good on paper but it is as @mikeyB says.

However I would like this or a telephone conversation for say a routine appointment for the results of blood tests that are actually fine but no they want to see us.
My dad and I have both been called in to see the gp like this. We both see the nurses about our conditions , have all the tests they require.
