Thousands of cancer patients are being treated on radiotherapy machines that are so old they should have been replaced, the Mirror can reveal today.
One in eight of the units being used at NHS hospitals are more than 10 years old, the cut-off point for the equipment to be shut down.
The figures uncovered in a secret document show that half of all the machines have reached an age when plans need to be made to replace them.
Even a member of the Coalition blasted the situation.
