Vital patient information including patient notes and prescriptions are to "go digital" as part of a ?260m move to cut down the number of paper blunders and make the NHS "safer".

It comes after Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt revealed that 11 people died in the NHS in England last year after being given the wrong medication.

Hospitals will be able to use the cash to develop electronic prescription and patient systems.

This will also enable medics from different departments to access patient information quickly and easily.

They obviously never heard of GIGO then!

Ee, I remember back in 1982 when all this were rhubarb fields and there were talk of the 'paperless office' just a few years into the future...

Aye, them were the days awreet. :D

Two things :

1) To err is human, but to really mess up requires a computer! (obviously, this is the cleaned up version).

2) Anything with the words Government, IT & project leaves me terrified! It'll be overbudget, won't work and no-one will understand how to use it properly.
