The NHS electronic summary care record (SCR) reached the 40 million patient mark at the end of June, after delays and cost overruns.
The SCR holds core information about a patient’s medication, adverse reactions and allergies. The CSP welcomed the milestone, saying it will help physiotherapists to assess patients and coordinate their care.
NHS England said it is now focusing on an accelerated rollout of the SCR in accident and emergency departments, NHS 111 and GP out-of-hours services.
Patients can opt out of having an SCR, but so far only 1.4 per cent have done so.
