NHS STAFF serving Merseyside take nearly three weeks off sick every year, figures suggest.

Workers at the 27 NHS bodies in the ECHO?s Merseyside, Cheshire and Lancashire patch were on average absent for 3.44 days between July and September last year.

This was equivalent to 13.7 working days a year. High-pressure frontline staff ? such as paramedics ? were the most likely to take sick days, the Office for National Statistics data showed.

Employees of the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust took on average 6.4 days off over the three-month period ? the most of the 27 NHS bodies analysed by the ECHO.
