THE local NHS has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award for improvements it has made to dementia care in the county.
Devon's NHS, which includes Devon, Plymouth and Torbay, will find out if it has won a Care Integration Award at a ceremony in London in July.
The nomination is for the development of a dementia care pathway that has already reduced the waiting times for specialist dementia diagnosis and memory assessment, and has improved awareness of the benefits of diagnosis at an early stage by the patients' GP.

Reading that article does not tally with my parents experience with the service.
GP was informed about my dad, local mental health nurse came out, asked a few questions and turned round and said nope you are fine no signs of dementia.
After the nurse left dad looked at mum and asked in a very confused state,"why did MI5 send him?
