A paramedic has described being evicted from his home because his landlady was concerned that he could spread Covid-19 at the property, raising further concerns that medical staff are being stigmatised because of their contact with the virus.

Joseph Hoar, a paramedic for South Western ambulance service, tweeted on Saturday night that he had been asked to leave his home by text message within 24 hours because the owner was “super nervous about having someone from the NHS here”.

“It’s only a matter of time before you are in contact with the virus,” a screenshot of the WhatsApp message said. “Can you organise an Airbnb and collect your stuff tomorrow. Sorry I normally would never do this but it’s not worth the risk.”

What is wrong with some people :(

That is disgusting and illegal.

That is absolutely dreadful. Shame on his landlord. Hope he finds somewhere to live where there's no restrictions.

Landlady in this case I believe. Just an a complete a**hole IMHO anyway. I think legally that this is an eviction frankly and therefore illegal whether he is a paramedic or the Archangel Gabriel !

It now appears the lovely paramedic has been offered digs with a work colleague thank goodness.
I just hope his ex landlady doesn't need a paramedic in a hurry 😡

I am a landlord too and behaviour like this makes my blood boil. 😡

My wife and I have five flats/houses and we have told all our tenants that they are secure no matter what. Also, the property management company which looks after the building that one of our flats is in asked us to pass on a message to our tenant asking her to let them know if she goes into self-isolation ...... so that they and other residents in the building can help if needed.

THAT is how I expect people to behave, not that lowlife landlord above.
