A 24-hour service has been launched for NHS patients, offering GP consultations via videolink on smartphones.

The pilot scheme will initially cover 3.5 million patients in Fulham, west London.

Patients will be able to check their symptoms through the mobile app and then have video consultations within two hours of booking.

The Royal College of GPs has warned the service may not help patients with complex needs.

The new free service has been launched by a group of London GPs and the online healthcare provider Babylon.

Patients joining will leave their existing practice, with their records transferred to a group of five central London surgeries.

WOW that's great, hope they leave provision for BSL Sign Language ?

I don't like the fact they have to leave there existing practice, this will in my opinion attract people who are for the system .

Personally I would not like to leave my practice.

Personally I would not like to leave my practice.
Nor me - the chap talking it up on the news said a face-to-face appointment would be available at one of their practices, but how far might you have to travel? My current surgery is 5 minutes walk away.

I have a drive to mine and though it is not as it was, it is still better than the one around the corner.

Could be useful for when stuck at home. For sample, after an op, accident, heart attach where you have to limit activity. It cost me £15-£20 a couple of weeks getting to my gp's for all the appointments.
OK, couple of those appointment were for them to check my legs when I had cellulites. That might not show properly on the camera. And people will never get there let in frame right. And they've to check the temp.

Neither use nor ornament. A proper GP looks at everything- body language, speed of movement, all sorts of things before you even sit down. You can miss all sorts of things not looking at the whole person, particularly high levels of anxiety. And changes in mien. Not a well thought through plan at all. It’s pretend doctoring in my view.

So how do they examine that part of you that has the problem - Hello doc, I have this pain ........ LOL

Having to leave current GP practice can be a big issue. After all the time and effort, as patients, we've put in training them up.
[Edited, cause got mush for brains got typos]
