Concerns have been raised about the health service?s ability to deal with the demands of rising obesity levels after a report found there is currently ?inadequate? provision within the NHS to treat obese patients.
The report, published today, by the Royal College of Physicians, found that services to manage obesity are ?poorly developed?, with the health service?s response to the problem described as ?patchy?.
Too many doctors and nurses are seriously overweight and setting a bad example to the people they are trying to treat, it said.
More than half of adults and a third of children in Wales are overweight or obese.
