A POPULATION boom, millions of pounds of debt and varied life expectancy have all been outlined as the main reasons for a review into the NHS in Dorset.
A major review into the way healthcare is provided in Dorset was launched in October by Dorset Clinical Commissioning group (CCG), which is responsible for the provision of healthcare in the county, in a bid to make the service more efficient in the face of changing healthcare needs and to cut costs.
It has now published a report on some of its findings and the reasons it feels a new blueprint for the way the health service is provided in Dorset is needed, after consulting local doctors, nurses and other clinicians.
The report states in five-years, the NHS in Dorset could face debts of between £167million and £200million if changes aren't made to the way healthcare is provided.
