265 GP practices operating within the four selected CCG areas will whittled down to select final sites to test flagship data sharing project
A select number of surgeries in the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) areas of Leeds, Somerset, West Hampshire and Blackburn with Darwen are to pilot NHS England's controversial care.data programme during its initial pathfinder phase.
Of the 265 GP practices in these areas, a shortlist of practices to be included in the scheme will be announced "in due course" to help outline how authorities will conduct a wider rollout of the project in England, according to health authorities.
The four CCG areas that will test care.data, which aims to share information collected from medical records to drive operational efficiency in the NHS, were selected by a panel that included representatives from the British Medical Association (BMA) and voluntary sector partners that have worked with NHS England.
