More health workers in the NHS have backed strike action on the 13th of October in a dispute over the government’s rejection of a 1 per cent pay rise for all staff.

Members of the Unite union voted to stop work for four hours between 7am and 11am, joining members of Unison in the action.

In England, Unite members voted by a 62 per cent margin in favour of strike action and by 77 per cent for industrial action short of a strike. In Northern Ireland, the result showed 78 per cent were in favour of strike action and 91 per cent voted for industrial action short of a strike.
