I was reading about these this morning and in all honesty find it quite worrying! In the mid-nineties the level of care for diabetics was not what it should have been, in particular for Type II (the mild diabetes nonsense). I have been both an in- and out-patient in recent years and the only real area where there in room for savings is in administration staff - they have created many new roles in recent years. The article also had the usual re obesity and alcohol abuse. I think the Government could make a good start by slimming down Ken Clarke and Eric Pickles as an example to the voters.

NHS efficiency savings equals poor service to patients!

Hmm, to be fair I do find that at times there are more desk pilots at work than I think we need. So long as it doesn't compromise patient care or quality of care then I think that things should be made more efficient.
