NHS workers in Cardiff batting to save 400 jobs vowed today to meet urgently with Health Minister Mark Drakeford after belligerent employers abandoned talks and issued redundancy notices.

Representatives of the Unison union and the Welsh government have been holding high-level negotiations with the Cardiff and Vale Health Board over the jobs cull.

But the board, made up of directly employed directors and independently appointed members, unilaterally issued redundancy notices this week.

Doctors, nurses, technicians, scientists, porters, clerical staff and senior managers all face the axe in the capital.
