A married couple received payouts of almost ?1 million when they were made redundant from their posts as NHS managers, only to be re-employed by the health service a few months later.

They were among around 50 senior staff members who received payouts of more than ?100,000 when 161 statutory bodies were abolished earlier this year, according to accounts.

Around a dozen of those have been taken on again in the public sector, the Times reported.

The Government should have capped ?golden goodbyes? and reclaimed money from those who were re-employed, critics have claimed.

What a scandalous waste - how many nurses could have been employed for this money? :(

We need expensive people like this in the NHS to tell diabetics that BG test strips are not really necessary. 🙄
