It's quite a difficult thing, I think, particularly for someone,
a healthcare professional, someone who has worked in the NHS, to kind of reflect on that and say, right, I have an illness now, a condition which could
involve me losing my limbs, my kidneys packing in, having a heart attack and
probably dying of a stroke. Not only that, it is your own fault

Grrrrrrrr!!!!!! 😡 😡 Ignorance!!!

In September 2011, the Daily Telegraph revealed that Nicholson claimed expenses of over ?50,000 a year on top of a basic salary of ?200,000 and benefits in kind of ?37,600 at a time when he was asking the health service to make ?20 Billion cuts by 2015. His claim was three times an MP's accommodation allowance. 😱

He comes across as a right pompous ass! I very much doubt if he'd have been handed a glucose meter or got to go on a DESMOND course without his connections. Probably all the 80 and 90 year olds on the course with him had been on a waiting list for it since they were 50 or 60!

Hiya all

David Nicholson the chief executive of nhs england was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in dec 2012, he talks about his experience in a speech here (bottom of page 10)

http://www.england.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/SDN-transcript-2013-06-06-pm.pdf

He tests his blood glucose 4 times a day and has been on a Desmond course despite being controlled by diet and exercise only. Hmmmmm

If this is the case and if he gets his strips on prescription, should all diabetics who have been refused test strips, go back to their doctors and claim they are being discriminated against because they are not the chief exec of the nhs.

Perhaps all should all wright to him showing their feeling about being refused tests strips and ask him to buy his own, instead of drawing on a resource that's denied to many diabetics.

Hee hee, if he's just D& E he will at least be contributing, although if he's past retirement age (for normal mortals who live in the real world I mean) of course, then he won't ....

???????????? & he got the bosses job ? or is it just the press again

I do believe he may have been head of the Strategic Health Authority over Stafford Hospital when they had just a few problems ..... and then got promoted .....
