An eighth of the NHS drugs budget is spent on treatment of diabetes, with nine in ten cases fueled by excess weight.

Health needs the revolution (digital) that has already come to other sectors like banking (digital) and shopping (digital). With much greater patient choice, innovation, tech and AI – meaning more convenience, lower costs and reduced health disparities.

People need to take personal responsibility for their health. The NHS app is the solution.

The eighth of the NHS drugs budget doesn't just apply to overweight T2s with diabetes. A T1 on insulin consumes far more money than a T2 on diet and Metformin, which is dirt cheap. Plus all those now using Libre and other CGMs. Plus all those on pumps, which cost at least £2500 and likely more. The bill may be increasing as more T2s are diagnosed, but it's not them who are increasing the diabetes drugs budget.

And excess weight also contributes to the cardiac and arthritis drugs budget.

And I would advise you to read your other thread, relating to to Diabetes not being related just to overweight😉:D

Sorry if I gave the impression that the opinion was yours, I made my last remark as a joke. So much for emojis :D
