NHS heads who decided Leeds children?s heart surgery unit should close were ?shooting in the dark? because they did not have all the relevant information, the High Court was told.
The claim was made as campaigners fighting to save the Leeds General Infirmary unit took the latest step in their battle to overturn the controversial move.
Save Our Surgery, which represents families and supporters, won a judicial review following the decision last year that the Leeds ward should stop doing surgery, ruling instead that poorly children should travel to Newcastle or Liverpool.
The court in London heard that during the review of children?s heart surgery units, all were assessed by a panel of experts.
