Have you been to take it with your biggest meal of the day, literally whilst you are eating it and have you been told it's a good idea to eat less carbohydrates?

Sorry to hear Metfartin is giving your stomach a bit of a hard time @Beannie1956
Sounds like you are taking good precautions by taking it with a substantial meal. Hopefully your trots will settle down very soon, but do go back to your GP if the upset continues.
Reducing carbohydrates and sugary things will really help too.Keep going!
Good luck with getting to grips with diabetes, it definitely is a steep learning curve at the beginning. Hope you feel better soon with your digestion. A sudden change of diet can also have an impact in the short term.
