Relationship to Diabetes

Hi - just had my DESMOND day and first eye screen. Results back today, with a message in the letter from the screening programme clinician advising to see my GP for a health check as I have extensive diabetic eye disease in one eye, and advising I will be getting an appointment for further investigation in 3-4 months!!! I am very confused with the mixed messages. I had a health check and they found the diabetes. On metformin 500 twice a day. On a diet and found a lot of help here, lovely to see, its all a bit frightening.

Welcome to the forum, but I have no real idea what a " DESMOND day is... o_O

However it is all quite frightening, especially when it comes to our eyes, as I recently found out. It is not really mixed messages you are getting, just that the NHS is not always the fastest. ( I assume you are in the UK, ) They are very thorough though, so try to relax and follow their advice. 🙂
