... and just exploring.
Hi, I was dI agonised in July 2018 with an HbA1c of 79 ( didn't have a clue what it meant). Found the website and immediately decided to view my diabetes like a science experiment. Went LCHF and was put on metformin. The diet and probably the pills saw my Hba1c deposit to a pleasing 39.9 (ie non diabetic). I continue with the diet and pills and life goes on as normal. The forum was soooooo helpful with advice and humour😛. As everyone will tell 6ou, ask as many questions as you wanto. Even the same question again and again - I didMy thought is that if you don't have a very high HbA1c and are being fed with pills in handfuls to try and do something about it then don't head off in any direction! Far better to take stock, get your numbers sorted out and get a grip on the options out there using whaterever sources you want. Seems like a lot of conflicting stuff but you will eventually get to the underlying principles which will allow you to get a perspective on the advice given. The basic objective is to get an understanding of where you are at, what is going on and where you want to get to. Then work out how you are going to get there in a way that suits you. Then get on with it.
If you are looking at it as a project - and I like that approach - then go find the NICE guidelines on diagnosis and treatment of diabetes. That will tell you, providing your GP practice has read them, what they are doing and why they are doing it.
